As we enter 2012 we are very thankful
for Life.
First, Jesus' Life that he lived as a human,
Suffering death for our sins so that we might
have eternal Life.
Second, for John's Life as a couple of times
in 2011 we were unsure of his
outcome.
For new Life to be born into our
son and daughter-in-law's lives in
April.
John had major surgery at Mayo clinic in Jan. '11. They removed his spleen and
part of his colon. It was discovered in Dec. '10 that he has Hairy Cell Leukemia.
The recovery from surgery was slow with several complications requiring more
surgeries, draining his lungs from fluid, having to be on oxygen for a couple of
months and adjusting to being on blood thinners now.
He was finally well enough in August to have chemo therapy for the leukemia.
We are happy to say that after some more complications he is in remission!
His recovery is slow, he tires very quickly and is unable to work yet.
Mom Yates moved in with us in March and we added a bathroom into her bedroom and it
is quite nice. She fell in September fracturing her pelvis and had to be in the convalescent hospital for a few weeks. We enjoy her company and are happy to say that she is now well,
enjoying her 86th year.
Janet has been chauffeur for John's many doctors visits and care giver for John when
he needs help. She enjoyed working in the yard some this summer and with
the help of the Jr. Highers from church the back yard is all landscaped with
gravel paths.
Travis has been stationed in Turkey this past year and gets to return home
in March. Then Stacy and family will move with him to
Texas where he will be stationed at Randolph Air Force Base.
We will miss having them in California. Only one grandchild will remain in California
to finish her senior year of High School. After that she may be going to Biola College.
Ryan quit work in May and took a short break before starting his doctorate
program at University of Rochester. Rebekah continues to teach at Houghton College.
They shared the happy news of a baby's arrival sometime in April.
Every time we think about it we get huge smiles on our faces!
We will definitely be making a trip to New York in April.
We are praying for a year of regaining health, finding a job that will suit
our needs and desires, time with family and friends, and most of
all a year of living a life worthy of Christ.
May your year be blessed too.
Happy New Year
